How Trail X Art Began *Part 2/2

Not long after, Covid came. Swimming lessons had to stop... and I began thinking about what else I could do....

An idea started forming:

What if I brought children outdoors, to nature, and combined it with art ?

That was the seed of *Trail X Art — a cool name that actually came from my friend, MingYan.

But there was a challenge. Everyone knew me as a swimming coach, not an art coach. It wasn’t easy to convince parents to join.

Then I thought back to that drawing for my son. I asked him if I could use it again, this time, painted on a wall. With his permission, we turned it into a mural together. It became both a lesson for him and a symbol for me, my way of saying: This is what Trail X Art is about. Exploring, creating, and remembering.

That’s how it all began. A card. A memory. A mural. And today, Trail X Art continues to grow from that same spirit of discovery and creativity.

“Honestly, it’s quite scary… I still don’t know if it will turn out the way I want. But that’s life — the start is always the hardest. I believe that to grow, we can learn to recognize it and keep taking it one step at a time.”
