How Buddy Sports Manages Swimming Lessons During Haze🔥
Updated: Oct 10

Keeping Children Safe While Learning Continues
At Buddy Sports, we believe swimming education goes beyond physical training. Developing swimming skills, building confidence, understanding water safety, and building good values are equally important.
The values and intentions behind everything we do matter just as much as the skills we teach.
We believe children learn not only from what adults teach them, but also from how adults respond to challenges.
This is why we don't simply cancel lessons whenever it rains or conditions become less favourable. Instead, we assess the situation, make responsible decisions, and adapt our activities whenever it is safe to do so.
We want children to understand that challenges are not always something to avoid. Sometimes, they are opportunities to learn how to adapt, stay calm, and find solutions.
By setting the right example, we hope to teach children resilience, responsibility, and the confidence to handle situations that may not always go according to plan.
Of course, safety always comes first. When conditions become unsafe, we will suspend or postpone lessons.
During haze conditions, Buddy Sports uses the National Environment Agency's (NEA) air-quality guidance, particularly 1-hour PM2.5 readings, to help determine appropriate outdoor activities.
Rather than taking an all-or-nothing approach, we adjust our swimming lessons according to the conditions, progressively reducing physical intensity while maintaining meaningful learning opportunities.
To put this into practice, we have developed a three-level training approach. Under normal conditions, children focus on swimming skills and physical fitness. As haze levels increase, we gradually shift towards lighter skill practice, followed by learning and discovery, with greater emphasis on water safety knowledge.
This approach allows us to balance physical development, meaningful learning and children's safety as conditions change.
Our goal is not simply to teach children how to swim, but to help them become Calm, Confident & Capable — both in and out of the water.

|
🟡 56–99 | Level 2: Light Skills Mode | Practise & Refine |
|
